Description
There are so many edible and medicinal plants all around us but we’re too busy spraying weed killers for the “perfect lawn”, most of us don’t even notice.
Have you ever been out in nature and wished you could identify the plants you come in contact with?
What about the plants right outside your front door? Do you know what they are? How they can be used?
Are you interested in foraging but not sure how to do it safely?
If you’re ever stranded, would you know which plants you could use to sustain yourself?
Join me for a plant walk and allow me to be your guide.
On these walks, we’ll take a stroll through some of my favorite parks and forests around Florida.
We’ll identify all the edible and medicinal plants we can find.
We’ll take a close look at identifying features such as leaf characteristics, flowers, smell, growing habitat and anything else we can observe.
We will talk about how to use the plants as food and medicine and most importantly how to do so safely.
Notes:
Registration will be required. Walk-ins will be accepted if the class isn't full. When classes start, I will update my schedule weekly. You can then send me a text or an email that includes your desired date and number of people. No cash will be accepted. Payment options include: Zelle, Cash App and Apple Pay.
Price is $30 per adult. Children under 5 years old are free. Children 5 and up are $7.00.
When you register you’ll be given the exact address and all the info you’ll need to participate.
Each class will last around 2.5 hours and cover edible plants, medicinal plants and mushrooms we find that day.
Depending on the location (which will vary), we will not be foraging. We’ll just be lovingly observing the plants.
Walks are rain or shine unless weather is severe. If weather is severe, I’ll email you at least 2 hours prior to the walk and send a refund.
Clothing requirements vary, I'll get you all the information you need prior to arriving.
A waiver must be signed prior to the walk.
Water and trail mix will be provided courtesy of MDH.
Please fill out the form to help me narrow down parks and locations, thank you.
